Looking forward to your game of golf? – these will make you smile as well!!!

"Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off."

"A blind bloke walks into a shop with a guide dog. He picks the Dog up and starts swinging it around his head. Alarmed, a shop assistant calls out: 'Can I help, sir?' 'No thanks,' says the blind bloke. 'Just looking.'"

"He said 'I'm going to chop off the bottom of one of your trouser legs and put it in a library. I thought, "That's a turn-up for the books."

"And the back of his anorak was leaping up and down, and people were chucking money to him. I said 'Do you earn a living doing that?' He said 'Yes, this my livelihood.'"

"So I was getting into my car, and this bloke says to me "Can you give me a lift?" I said "Sure, you look great, the world's your oyster, go for it.'"

"You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine.'"

"So I went to the dentist. He said "Say Aaah." I said "Why?" He said "My dog's died.'"

"So I rang up a local building firm, I said 'I want a skip outside my house.' He said 'I'm not stopping you.'"

"So I was in my car, and I was driving along, and my boss rang up and he said 'You've been promoted.' And I swerved.
And then he rang up a second time and said "You've been promoted again. And I swerved again.
He rang up a third time and said 'You're managing director.' And I went into a tree.
And a policeman came up and said 'What happened to you?'
And I Said 'I careered off the road.'"

A Welcome from the Captain of Caerphilly Golf Club, Mr Phil Jones

Dear Members and Guests of The Tommy Cooper Society,

On behalf of Caerphilly Golf Club I would like to welcome you all to our course. Last year in our Club's centenary year we had great pleasure in offering our course as the venue for the inaugural Tommy Cooper Golf Classic and took almost as much pleasure in being presented with the coveted Green Fez, an emblem which in the golfing world will surely match or even exceed the prestige of the Green Blazer presented at Augusta. Needless to say we will defend the honour of the Green Fez again this year so you may have to take the golfing as seriously as Tommy took his comedy.
Many years ago I had the pleasure of seeing Tommy Cooper live and without a doubt it is absolutely true it was impossible not to laugh from the moment he appeared on stage to the very end of his act.
I look forward to the day when the statue is erected in Caerphilly and further into the future at the creation of the Tommy Cooper Musical Theatre Group, whose stated aim is to encourage youngsters and others with disabilities to be involved in the performing arts.
As Captain this year and along with the Lady Captain Mrs Dawn Welch we are raising money for the Velindre Hospital Appeal and to add a little more fun to an already fun packed day we challenge all competitors thus:
When you tee off from the first tee, if your ball does not get past the ditch (and for first timers to Caerphilly Golf Club you may not see it from the tee but you certainly won't miss it as you walk by), lands in the Dell or even over the School Grounds we ask you to place a donation in the Charity Appeal Bottle located on the bar in the Members and Guest's Bar.
Enjoy your day, enjoy your golf enjoy the experience of the Tommy Cooper Golf Classic!!

What is today all about???

The Tommy Cooper Society

The Society, based in Tommy’s birthplace of Caerphilly was formed in 2003. The Society is in the process of registering as a Charity with the Charity Commissioners. The main objectives are firstly the erection of a 3 metres high cast bronze statue of the great man; and a more long term aim of establishing a Tommy Cooper Youth Musical Theatre Group for the encouragement of young people in the performing arts. This Group will especially encompass young people with disabilities and it is hoped to have an annual event to award ‘Coopers’ - Caerphilly’s answer to Hollywood’s Oscar ceremony.

All the money raised today from this event and sales of TC items will go towards this fund. The Society has also established a ‘Walk of Fame’ leading to the site proposed for the statue. This features sponsored pavers, and is located near to the Visitor’s Centre at the Twyn, opposite Caerphilly’s famous Castle.

News of the Society’s aims and activities can be found on the website: www.thetommycoopersociety.org.uk.
